At Univerus, we were proud to sponsor Team British Columbia from the Duncan Curling Club at the 2025 Canadian Club Curling Championship in Winnipeg.

Representing your province on the national stage is no small feat, and this team delivered an outstanding performance. The team of Kalia MacKenzie, Megan Montgomery, Carley Sandwitch-Craig, Marika Van Osch and Kesa Woodward posted an impressive 5–1 record during pool play and followed it up with a strong playoff showing, competing with skill, determination, and confidence against the best club teams in the country.

What makes this team’s journey especially meaningful is the story behind the jerseys. The five athletes have all competed at provincial and national levels since their teenage years. Like many high performance athletes, they eventually stepped back from competition to focus on life beyond the rink, including careers, marriage, and raising families.

A few years later, the spark was reignited.

One teammate floated the idea of competing at the Club Provincials, an event designed to give club-based teams the chance to compete at a high level while maintaining balance with personal and family life. The result was a memorable road trip to Cranbrook, a provincial championship win, and the honour of earning the BC jacket and representing their province at Nationals in Winnipeg.

Stepping onto championship ice once again was a powerful moment for the team. Wearing the BC jacket and competing on a national stage brought back the competitive fire and pride that first drew them to curling years ago. Just as importantly, it highlighted what the Canadian Club Curling Championship represents: excellence, community, and the ability to pursue sport at a high level while staying grounded in everyday life.

We are grateful to have played a small role in supporting Team British Columbia on this journey and proud to celebrate their achievements. Their story is a reminder that passion for sport does not have an expiration date, and that with the right support, athletes can continue to chase their goals on their own terms.

Congratulations to Team BC on a fantastic championship and an inspiring return to the national stage. We look forward to cheering you on in the seasons ahead.
